The Cave You Fear To Enter Holds The Treasure That You Seek.

This is my all-time favorite quote. I've quoted it so much my little sister rolls her eyes because with every life dilemma, I've quoted it and she's now sworn to place it on my tombstone lol.

So, what does it mean and why does it matter?

Simply put, FEAR is a real pain in the you know what!

It's true. Fear will stop you in your tracks. You may hope and wish and dream to create something or be something or do something but when the "F" word stops you, like a train with a boulder on it's tracks, it prevents you from moving and flowing forward towards that highly desired goal or dream destination that you have.

Fear, aka False Evidence Appearing Real also means that there is absolutely zero threat or danger, yet your mind creates the illusion of alarm. It triggers your body to respond with an increased heart rate, sweaty palms and the desire to run hard and fast in the opposite direction of where you truly, deeply want to go.

Why?

Well, it's nice and cozy and comfortable to stay exactly where you are, right?

Venturing out into the unknown, potentially walking on eggshells, and doing something new can be terrifying and... humiliating. Just like riding a bike as most of us did as children, the chances of falling and skinning our knees is great and the desire to feel pain is nonexistent. Nobody ever wants to feel uncomfortable. It sucks! We do what we do to feel safe. When we explore something new, we are swimming in unknown territory.

So why not stay where ya are, remain cozy and safe?

Life is meant to be LIVED. Staying exactly where you are your entire life and not seeking the joy or change or excitement your heart is craving is a good way to continue being a pretty bird swinging in a cage when you very well have the key right in your hand.

Feeling the fear and doing it anyway is what I've practiced more than anything this past year. Dreaming about doing something is not the same as daring yourself and actually DOING it. True joy and freedom comes from entering that cave you fear to enter because it always holds that treasure that you desperately seek.

We are three days into this new year, so let's ask ourselves...

What cave are you too scared to enter? What is really holding you back? 10 out of 10 times... it's the person staring back at you in the mirror.

I challenge you to shake that person and tell that person, enough is enough.

Repeat the following and don't you dare just read these words. Let's make them real:

Today is the day, I take a chance on myself. Today is the day I take one big step in the direction of my dreams. Today is the day I will never get back again so I'm going to stop wasting time living for others and living in fear. Today I will do what I came here to do, even if my legs are shaking... even if my voice is weak.. even if tears run down my face... even if no one supports me... even if they say I can't. Today is the day and yes, I WILL.

Sending you love as always,
